This Dinner is Full
For the past 13 years, Sarah & I have hosted a VallartaScene Forum family-style Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner. This is our way of giving back a little to those who have supported us here at Mordidas and on the VallartaScene Forum. Many of you are more like family to us than you can know. This year has been especially difficult for me and I am much more thankful than I have ever been, just to be still alive (it’s a long story…)
Below is the illustration that I used for this Thanksgiving dinner last year (2017) and it was far more prophetic than I had intended.
On Thursday, November 22, 2018, we will continue this tradition. This dinner will IS announced On the VallartaScene Forum, through the Mordidas website and on the Mordidas Facebook page.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 8 pm, depending on the speed of the birds, the condition of the chef(s) and… fate. You can show up at 4 pm to socialize (and, if you want to arrive earlier, you will be “put to work” helping with the preparations).
We will provide the turkeys, country-style mashed potatoes, some dressing and gravy. You can provide a side, salad or desert or any of the above if you have special recipes that you would like to share. Bring enough to feed about 8 people. We prefer that people bring homemade rather that store bought food but we realize that some of you are living in hotel rooms without kitchens.
If you are not sure what you are bringing, please sign up, anyhow. The list will fill quickly. You can tell us later what you will bring. We are publishing here a rough idea of what different people are bringing so we don’t duplicate too much.
Alex will be bar tending and we will sell beer, wine or cocktails at our normal low prices. The bar will be open to the public; The restaurant will not.
There is no cost for this thanksgiving dinner other than what you share and drink. If you do not want to purchase drinks here, you are free to bring your own bottle but, again, you should be prepared to share what you bring.
We have space for about 36 people at a seating. We will be staggering the turkeys so it might be possible to come after 8pm and still get a good meal but no one will eat without bringing something to share.
Sign up by emailing ojorojoster@gmail.com and telling me how many you have in your party and what you think you will be bringing.
