Mordidas is a vivero as well as a restaurant. It has a large, private, roof-top garden/nursery.

Mordidas was conceived and is operated by a former organic farmer (Sarah) and a rare plant nursery owner (Rick) from California. Many of the spices used in our food here at Mordidas are grown by us. The nursery in California was called Theatrum Botanicum and it existed for 20 years. We sold it when we moved to Mexico in 2006. The person we sold it to died and it is resurrected here in Vallarta.

Along with our culinary herbs we also sell traditional medicinal and specialty herbs such as gotu kola, fo-ti, Khat, Kratom, coffee trees, ayahuasca plants, gingers, galanga, betel leaf, black pepper, passion flower, patchouli, and many varieties of jasmine…

The plants are grown without commercial pesticides and all of the plants that we sell are propagated by us here at the nursery.

Unlike most nurseries we do not resell plants – we propagate everything that we sell.

We have select, choice strains of many popular spices and herbs.
